About
I am an interactive, solution-focused therapist . I believe in a collaborative process between my clients and myself. I draw from a cognitive, physical and emotional understanding of the therapeutic process. I believe clients are a leader in developing their therapeutic goals. I believe the therapist’s role is to assist and serve as a support to help them identify their goals and possible solutions for the desired outcome. I use some techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Psychology, Psychotherapy (past experiences that affect the present), experiential techniques (art, sand play and play therapies), and education. I strive to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges.
I recently started my journey to pursue a PhD in counseling psychology. I anticipate graduating in August of 2012 from Walden University. Currently, I’ve realized that balancing a full-time education, counseling practice, employment, and family life tends to sharpen my abilities of time management. I’m experiencing growth as a person in various ways, and can acknowledge the necessity to understand personal boundaries as they apply to all.
I find myself practicing in a primary modality of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, but utilize various techniques from other theories. I believe we are all faced with trials in our life, sometimes ones that require a non-biased set of eyes to help sort out the issues we’re faced with.
